Arena Essex meet Oxford in a SkyBet Elite Speedway League match at their Purfleet Raceway tonight.

The last time the teams met at the Hammers home track was when they knocked out the Silver Machine from this season's Knockout Cup competition.

Having lost away at Oxford by just one point the Hammers defeated Oxford by two points at Purfleet back in April to claim their place in the next round of the Cup.

Visiting promoter Nigel Wagstaff is still upset about his side's aggregate defeat and will be looking to turn the tables on the Hammers in this League encounter.

The Hammers have already met Oxford in the "A" League match away at the university city earlier this month where they finally went down by 52-43.

The bonus point will, therefore, be up for grabs and the Hammers know that the will need to win by at least 10 points to claim all three of the vital League points available.

The trip to Oxford saw the Hammers Grand Prix star, Mark Loram, top the Arena-Essex scorechart with a magnificent tally of 17 points.

He was well supported by Pole Greg Walasek, who was paid for nine points despite being excluded after one heat, which he had finished in first place, due to a faulty silencer.
