Southend angler Tim Robinson might be a newcomer to carp fishing, but he has already got a big fish under his belt after landing a cracking 23lb mirror carp at Basildon's Northlands Park.

Tim's big carp came during a weeks fishing at different venues that resulted in Tim taking a new personal best three days running.

Tim's first session was at a club water where he banked a common of 10lb 8oz to set himself a new personal best.

The following day he fished at Gloucester Park where he landed four carp to a best of 11lb 8oz, another new personal best. Chuffed with his success Tim decided to spend the following day at Northlands Park.

This time he really hit the jackpot tempting the 23lb mirror carp from a swim on the road lake. The big fish picked up a homemade boilie presented in the near margin.

Tim's fish was netted by pal Terry Curtess who had accompanied him to Northlands Park and netted 46lb of bream, skimmers and tench. Using pellet and luncheon meat baits Terry tempted bream to 4lb and tench to 5lb 2oz.
