Essex Eels suffered a 108-7 defeat on their National League Three trip to Bradford Dudley Hill.
But head coach Stuart Hogg has been pleased with the attitude his injury-hit troops have shown in training since the weekend drubbing.
"The side we sent was essentially a third-grade side with about three first graders in it," he said. "No complaints, we got a hammering, but the reaction was 'let's go a lot harder."
On Saturday Eels entertain Sheffield Hillsborough at Basildon RFC, then on Monday they travel to local rivals South London Storm.
