A former police officer has been given an eight-month jail sentence for stealing electrical goods belonging to Essex Police.
In a nine-month period, David Bruce took three televisions, a computer monitor and computer keyboard for his family's use, Colchester magistrates heard.
At a hearing earlier this month, Bruce, 36, of Horshams, Harlow, admitted five theft offences, committed at Grays police station between March and December last year. The case was adjourned for reports.
Robert Sadd, prosecuting, emphasised that, as a uniformed officer, Bruce had access to most of the station. He said: "Over a period of time he stole a number of items which the police were using in the course of their inquiries."
