Oxney House retirement home in Writtle is set to be remodelled to provide residents with more space, comfort and enhanced facilities.
The package of works includes converting 19 bedsits into 12 one bedroom apartments - each with private bathrooms. These changes will improve the quality of life to all residents, and Oxney will be the first out of five retirement home schemes to be improved.
The improvements are being made in order to meet the Government's Decent Homes Standard and bring them up to date by providing modern facilities for all the residents.
As well as upgraded rooms a passenger lift will be installed to ensure that less able residents and their visitors can get around more easily.
Head of asset management James Henderson said: "CHP have facilitated all the residents' moves and they are generally very excited and positive about the changes."
