Work on a new skate park on Canvey will be delayed by five months because there is no planning permission for the site yet.
The first phase of the £100,000 project was due to start in July on land next to Waterside Farm, in Somnes Avenue, but plans are now on the backburner.
The delay is due to confusion over planning permission for the skate park, an initiative by regeneration group Canvey 2000, Essex Police, Essex County Council's Youth Service and Castle Point Council.
Although the site is on land zoned for leisure, Castle Point Council insists it will need separate planning permission for the scheme.
