Canvey will come to a complete standstill if major works on the only two routes off the island go ahead at the same time, it was claimed today.
Railtrack is carrying out a survey to see if work can be carried out on the Ferry Road underpass linking Canvey to Benfleet.
Work could coincide with the massive repairs planned for Pitsea flyover.
