A scheme to help treat patients before an ambulance arrives desperately needs more volunteers.

The aim of the East Tilbury First Respondance Scheme, which will start on June 9, is to administer first aid to people who need it before an ambulance arrives.

Mick Beadle, of Waldon, East Tilbury, a London Ambulance Service employee, decided to set up the volunteer-run scheme in the town due to the delays the ambulances sometimes face when crossing the railway.

The group will be holding a meeting to recruit more volunteers at the Village Hall, Princess Margaret Road, East Tilbury on Wednesday June 9 at 8pm.

If anyone needs any information about the scheme or the meeting, call Mick on 07906 400513.
