More than £50,000 has been allocated to help put the brakes on speeding motorists in an accident hot spot.
A total of £52,000 is to be spent on traffic calming measures in Thorney Bay Road, Canvey, after Southend firm KeyMed acknowledged the road had a particularly high accident ratio.
However, any moves to curtail speeding on Smallgains Avenue have been put back until next April.
Canvey West councillor, Ray Howard said: "Thorney Bay Road is part of the island's major road network and has been the subject of a number of accidents. This has been recognised by KeyMed, and for that I am truly grateful.
"There are a number of traffic calming measures and safety schemes we can now explore here, but I want to make sure we end up with the correct one."
