More than 30 youngsters from year six of Harwich Community Primary School took part in a litter pick across the town.
They collected 28 bags of litter yesterday, which was picked up by Onyx, including a pair of knickers, a bottle of perfume and a tin of sardines.
Teacher Nigel Spencer said: "It has been a successful day. They were immaculately behaved and people were chuffed the young were doing something positive."
Pupils were also given talks on rubbish collection and linked the event in with their maths and English classes.
