Southend United defender Leon Cort is on the verge of quitting the Blues for Second Division Hull City.
The former Millwall defender has been offered a two year deal to stay with the Seasiders but now looks likely to switch to the Tigers.
"I've had a really good offer from Hull and it's more than likely I'll be moving there," admitted Cort.
"I've spoken to Peter Taylor, he's made me a generous offer and you can't ignore things like that.
"Hull is a massive club and you dream of playing in front of the crowds they get. I'm an ambitious person and I want to play at the highest level I possibly can."
And Cort added he hoped the frustrated Southend faithful would understand his decision.
"The fans have been great to me," he said. "I enjoyed my time at Southend and I have some great memories. I just hope the supporters understand and hopefully one day I could come back to Roots Hall and play again."
