The contractor who has won an £8 million contract to re-develop Trinity House in Harwich has been announced.
Southern-based Jackson Construction has won the right to construct a new headquarters office and buoy yard.
The project is part-funded by a £2.5m grant from the East of England Development Agency and has helped to maintain the historic link between Trinity House and Harwich.
Work started recently on the site, which included the strengthening of Trinity Pier, re-alignment of flood defences and installation of drainage facilities.
Construction of Trinity House's new headquarters building is due to begin over the next few days, with the entire project scheduled for completion in summer 2005.
