Two passers-by who battled in vain to save a man's life after a heart attack were today praised for their efforts.
They tried to revive the man with help from a 999 ambulance operator, who talked them through the procedure as paramedics raced to the scene in South Woodham Ferrers.
Unfortunately, the man later died.
