Women are better off than men working for Castle Point Council.
Newly released figures show the council has bucked national trends by paying part-time female workers more than men.
Nationally, men earn on average 11.8 per cent more than women for part-time work but at Castle Point they actually get paid three per cent less.
The figures have been released as part of a publication used to monitor equality at the council in 2003/04.
