Final preparations are being made for the 59th Southend Ladies' Open Bowls Tournament, which will be opened by Southend mayor Roger Weaver on July 21 at 9.15am.
It will run until Sunday August 1 at Priory Park, Victoria Avenue, Southend.
This year the ladies will have the benefit of a new pavilion which Southend Council and the clubs who play at Priory Park built to replace the one destroyed by fire.
There are the usual ladies' singles, pairs and mixed and and the tournament will start after the official opening with the two-wood triples.
A spokesman for the event said: "The ladies are really looking forward to this event as it not only marks a new beginning for the bowling at Priory Park with the new pavilion but will also enable them to plan ahead for their 60th anniversary next year."
