A Hi-tech travel centre is set to be built on the site of the existing bus station in Southend.
The scheme will form part of the multi-million pound second phase rejuvenation of Southend town centre proposed by consultants Buro Happold.
David Watts, Southend Council's director of technical services, said an "iconic" building, encouraging interest and use of public transport was being planned on the site between York Road and Heygate Avenue.
The new travel centre will allow buses to turn around within the new centre.
Two entrances will be included with real-time information, a reception and concourse with cafes and shops.
