A company will be hoping that it is fourth time lucky for its plans to develop a market site.

East Essex Properties wants to build non-food retail units and office space on the Warwick Castle Market land in Pier Avenue, Clacton.

Three previous development schemes were put before Tendring Council in 2001 and 2002 but were all refused.

Now council officers are recommending approval and the proposal will be discussed by councillors on Tuesday for a final decision.

In the emerging Local Plan, the site falls within the Old Road and St Osyth Road shopping centres and is allocated for mixed non-food bulky goods and office development. Officers believe the new plans conform to the council's policies.

Three letters have been received objecting to the latest project.
