With a new name, club badge, colours and management team - a rejuvenated Bowers and Pitsea FC are relishing the start of next season.

The Crown Avenue outfit have appointed former Southend United youth team manager Marc Massey as their new first team boss.

And, backed up by both Darran George and Steve Warner, the ex-Chelsea defender is confident of enjoying a strong first full campaign after the club changed its name from Bowers United.

The switch to Bowers and Pitsea FC was designed to put the club on the map by introducing the club's location into its name.

"It's an exciting time to be associated with Bowers and Pitsea FC," said Massey.

"We've reformed the committee and in S D Samuels we've got new sponsors as well.

"We've revamped the footballing side of things too and, with John Warner as the director of football, we're building for the future. We're hoping to build the club into a financially viable situation."

But Massey pointed out the Essex Senior League side were fully aware of how tough the forthcoming season could prove to be as they attempt to work their way up the restructured non-league pyramid.

"We're looking to consolidate at the moment and maybe next year we'll be going for promotion, but we're certainly ambitious," he said.

Bowers begin their preparations for next season on June 29 and Massey confirmed he was expecting a full strength squad to attend training.

"Contrary to reports and rumours we expect all our players from last season to show up," said Massey.
