A man who led police on a "hair raising" high speed car chase along the M25 before crashing into one of their cars has been jailed for two years.

Liam Kitchen, of Prince Avenue, Westcliff, was seen by police arguing with a group of girls after leaving a Dartford nightclub.

Police went to intervene but Kitchen drove off in his car and refused to stop, despite police tailing him.

Accelerating to speeds of up to 80mph, Kitchen smashed through the Dartford Tunnel toll barrier, then veered off the motorway and ran several red lights before crashing into a police car in a lorry park.

Police found the silver Citroen C3 he was driving, which he claimed had been lent to him, had been stolen in February.

Kitchen was convicted of handling stolen goods and aggravated vehicle taking at Blackfriars Crown Court earlier this month.

He had also pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and driving while disqualified, without insurance and while over the drink drive limit.
