Colchester United boss Phil Parkinson is looking for his side to battle on after Wayne Brown's suspension by the FA.

The inspirational centre-back has been handed a three-match ban following the fracas at Blackpool last month.

The incident also saw Ben May receive a three-match suspension, Craig Fagan banned for a single game and the club itself slapped with a £6,000 fine.

However, news of Brown's suspension only arrived at the club on Friday, throwing Parkinson's FA Cup plans into turmoil.

The U's, though, did manage to achieve a 1-1 draw with Coca-Cola League Two Mansfield Town in the first round on Saturday.

Parkinson believes that the spirit shown by the side will stand them in good stead when they meet in the replay at Layer Road.

Parkinson said: "We dug deep against Mansfield and we're going to come through this in a positive frame of mind.

"We got the call about Brown on Friday and I was obviously very disappointed. That's our third player from the incident and so far there has still been no suspensions for any Blackpool players."
