The first plan of a £130million supercasino complex with a hotel, conference centre and three blocks of luxury flats dominating Westcliff seafront.
The most ambitious and controversial project ever planned for Southend would create 3,000 new jobs and boast a 100-metre offshore tower rivalling London tourist attractions.
The Gyro tower would offer unrivalled views of the Thames Estuary and be taller than than Big Ben, St Paul's Cathedral and the Statue of Liberty.
It would have a revolving platform at the top giving views across the estuary and would be the only part of the supercasino development higher than the top of the cliffs.
See today's Echo for plan.
