A violent gang-of-ten attacked a young couple and their friend as they walked home from a party in Basildon.

The teenage muggers - eight boys and two girls - spied their three victims, all in their early 20s, as they strolled down an alleyway off Pattiswick Square at around 11.50pm on Saturday after leaving a party in nearby Beeleigh East.

On seeing the group, and sensing danger, they turned around and headed back onto the square, but were chased and confronted.

The eldest gang member, around 18-years-old, stepped forward and shouted "What was you running for? Do you want a piece of this!"

At this they launched an attack punching both men to the ground before kicking and stamping on them.

The two girl gang members focused on the woman, punched her in the face and unsuccessfully tried to steal her handbag.
