MORE than 50 pupils were lucky to escape serious injury after a double decker school bus crashed into a roadside ditch.
The bus was taking pupils home from King Edmund School in Rochford along Shopland Road towards Great Wakering when it veered into the ditch.
It was left tipped at a 45 degree angle and emergency services said the driver suffered cuts to his knees.
But amazingly none of the students were seriously injured.
