Mersea Island crashed to their fifth league defeat of the season.
Following their euphoria of the previous week, when they reached the fourth round of the Powergen National Vase, the Islanders were brought back to earth after a crushing six-try defeat.
The biggest disappointment was not only losing but failing to score a single point at home.
The score might suggest the game was one-sided. However, Mersea competed well for long periods, securing excellent possession in the line-outs and driving mauls but ultimately lacking creativity.
Unlike their opponents, they were not clinical enough when scoring opportunities arose.
