Southend clawed further away from the foot of the National League Division Three South table with a hard fought 17-12 victory at Old Patesians on Saturday.
The win in Cheltenham lifted the resurgent Seasiders to fourth from bottom in the standings, but more importantly continued their recent run of improved form.
This was their third success from their last four fixtures, with the only reverse suffered at Warner's Bridge against league leaders Lydney in the previous match.
Southend prepared for this meeting by making an overnight stay before the game and it certainly paid off in the picturesque surroundings of Old Patesians' home.
