Southend United progressed to the fourth round of the Essex Senior Cup with a comfortable 4-1 victory over Brentwood Town at Roots Hall last night.
Mark Bentley, Joe Ilett, Tes Bramble and Lawrie Dudfield were all on target for a young Shrimpers side whose second half display delighted reserve team boss Paul Brush.
"These types of games are always difficult when you're facing a team from a lower league as people always expect you to win easily," he said.
