Former RAF serviceman Peter Burton, of Rayne, has been awarded the funds through the Big Lottery Fund as part of the Heroes Return Scheme to travel back to the South East Asian country, where he served during the Second World War.
The 82-year-old former RAF serviceman is one of 644 veterans, widows, spouses and carers across the country funded to take part in commemorative events overseas. It will mark events leading to the 60th anniversary of the end of the war.
Mr Burton and his wife, Elizabeth, will be travelling to Burma in February.
He said: "We are very grateful to the Heroes Return scheme, to be honest we would never have been able to make this important trip without it."
