A football club has put its ground up for sale in a bid to find a solution to its financial worries.
Tiptree United FC, known as The Jam-makers, put the freehold of its Chapel Road headquarters and grounds on the market on Monday.
It aims to sell the three-acre site for housing and play home matches at its training ground in Colchester Road.
Secretary John Wisbey said senior staff had decided it would cost too much to bring the run-down Chapel Road facility up to modern standards.
He said once the sale had gone through, the Ridgeons League division one club would decide "if and where" a replacement ground could be built in the village.
Mr Wisbey said: "Whilst the decision taken is regrettable, it has been made to ensure that, in the long term, the club continues to survive."
