A stolen flag which commemorates a lifelong football supporter has been returned, thanks to the Gazette.
The flag was donated to Harwich and Parkeston Football Club in honour of Gordon Hayward, who died in August aged 92.
It was taken, along with a sponsor's flag, from the Royal Oak ground. However, after we reported the theft last week, it was returned anonymously yesterday morning.
Club chairman Tony Armstrong said: "It had apparently been taken as a prank and was returned over the fence. I'm very grateful to the Gazette. At least now we can get them back up and flying."
The flag cost £150 and depicts a shrimp on a black and white background.
