The new owners of a popular holiday park are winning their battle to reduce complaints over noise from the site.

Valley Farm Camping Ground in Valley Road, Clacton, faced a string of grievances when it turned up to try to get an extension to opening hours at the Jolly Harvester club.

The Ridley family, who have lived in a nearby bungalow in Holland Road for the past 20 years, appeared at a Tendring Council licensing sub-committee earlier this year to object to the move.

They were armed with a 45-name petition and a list of complaints. They felt the noise had got worse over recent years.

Brothers Richard and Martin Ridley bought specialist monitoring equipment so they could keep a check on the situation and claimed levels were higher than agreed.

But since the firm vowed in May to spend whatever it took to make sure the neighbours got a good night's sleep, the situation appears to have improved.

Now the Ridleys have written to Tendring Council backing the renewal of the Jolly Harvester's public entertainment licence.

Members of the licensing sub-committee will decide the application tomorrow.
