Campaigners were today celebrating victory in their battle to halt plans to build new homes on part of a school site.

Residents turned out in force and clapped from the public gallery as Tendring councillors rejected the scheme for Cosy Developments at the Windsor School in Holland Road, Clacton.

More than 100 people opposing the plans attended the meeting of the development control committee which voted nine to seven to refuse the application.
