New rules allowing overseas graduates to work in the UK will help plug the country's skills gap according to Colchester-based immigration specialists Fisher Jones Greenwood.
The Science and Engineering Graduate Scheme (Segs) allows foreign science graduates to remain in the UK for a year after university in order to find employment.
Previously they had to find a job and apply for a work permit in order to stay in this country.
Louise Boyes, an immigration, nationality and human rights specialist at Fisher Jones Greenwood, in Southway, said: "We have seen graduates with exceptional skills having to return home and at the same time the UK is crying out for people just like them, it has been such a shame and very frustrating.
"Now we can help students with very strong science skills apply for Segs, giving them time to find their feet and find employment here. It is very good news."
