Residents have opposed a supermarket development due to fears of increased noise and loss of trees.

The proposal for Tesco, in High Woods, Colchester, is to extend its loading bay and build parking for home delivery vans. The application will go before Colchester Council's planning committee

Ward councillor Gerard Oxford called the application in for scrutiny. Highwoods Residents' Association has also voiced objections.

But a consultation with the trees and landscape officer has shown the trees have limited amenity value and the extension of the surrounding acoustic timber fencing would reduce noise from the site.
