New childcare and youth services have been proposed for an unused school site in Braintree.
The former Chapel Hill school, which closed two years ago, has been identified as the perfect home for a new "one-stop centre for parents and children".
The proposal, made to the Braintree area committee meeting on Tuesday night, is to provide 40 childcare places for under-fives as well as an office base for a range of youth and adult support organisations.
A steering group of 15 child and youth-centred organisations, as well as local schools, backed the proposal, which was well received by Braintree councillors.
