Nearly 2,000 new homes may be built in Frinton and Walton in the next decade.

Developers are calling for more than 20 extra parcels of land to be made available for housing.

The potential plots have been highlighted for inclusion in the district council's Local Plan - the district-wide development blueprint. They would provide an extra 1,837 homes.

But residents and councillors are wary about putting too much of a strain on facilities, including schools, doctors' surgeries and transport.

Frinton and Walton Town Council is due to debate the new proposals tonight. Its conclusions will then be passed on to the district council, which is to prepare the plan.
