Protesters will be gathering in Promenade Park today, demonstrating against plans to ban swimming in Marine Lake.
Angry residents have organised the demonstration to maintain pressure on Maldon District Council's decision to axe the tradition of swimming at the 100-year-old facility in favour of an ornamental lake.
Several protesters will be dressed as lifeguards to highlight the council's claim that Health and Safety Executive (HSE) guidance states 26 lifeguards are needed to man a bathing facility.
Local action group The Friends of the Prom support the protest and have this week delivered their own proposals for the re-development of Marine Lake.
Maldon District Council confirmed it had received the plan and thanked those who gave their time to draft it. It promised the plan would be "rigorously evaluated" and that it would inform the public of its findings.
