Southend's Mike Hanger put up a good fight to box his way into the last four of the British Club Championships.
He beat the strong challenge of formidable West Ham slugger J Hedges.
Hanger was matched for strength, but once again it was his faster hands which earned him the decision of the judges in the 70kg category.
He's now off to Bristol on Saturday week to meet the Welsh champion.
Unfortunately on this occasion he won't be joined by Southend ABC clubmate Jordan Gosling.
He lost a disappointing three-rounder to N Devlin of Repton in the 66kg category.
