Work has finished on an £800,000 berthing facility for Walton and Frinton lifeboat so that it can be launched faster and be better protected.

The temporary staging has been removed and the jack-up barge has just left.
Final fitting-out works on the staging will continue and the lifeboat will be moored within the new staging once the moorings have been agreed and laid.
In the meantime the lifeboat will stay on her temporary mooring outside the pier and the boarding boat will launch from the new staging. For the past few months the area around the RNLI lifeboat station at Walton Pier has looked like a construction site.
Work started in June although bad weather caused delays.
