Fabian Wilnis believes Ipswich Town's new-found defensive steel could be enough to drive them up into the Premiership.
The Blues have added solidity at the back to their ability to score goals this season, helping them reach second spot in the Coca-Cola Championship.
Town are level on points with leaders Wigan Athletic ahead of Sunday's trip to Sunderland.
And Wilnis, confident he can recover from a wrist injury in time for the match, told the Gazette: "We've stopped giving away silly goals this season and that could be vital.
"Last season we did it all the time. It became a major handicap because we were making life so difficult for ourselves. Now we've got a much more settled back four and I think that makes a a big difference."
