The gloves are off is the message a parish council has declared in its fight against a compensation scheme for homeowners affected by Stansted expansion plans.
At a standing room only meeting in Takeley's Silver Jubilee Hall, last night, more than 200 people listened as Trevor Allen, chair of the parish council, said it would no longer be "the little village at the end of the runway".
The meeting was organised by Mr Allen to explain how the council, which recently announced starting legal proceedings over compensation being offered to residents, was going to fight BAA Stansted's Home Owner Support Scheme (Hoss).
The council plans to sue Alistair Darling, Secretary of State for Transport, under the Human Rights Act.
