A leading Southend company has demanded an inquiry after foul odours again emanated from a neighbouring sewage works.
For years KeyMed in Stock Road have endured nauseous smells from the Anglian Water sewage works next door.
On Thursday November 11 they were particularly bad and the angry Southend company has written to Anglian Water Services demanding answers.
Written by Mike Batty, head of group facilities, it points to correspondence in May advising KeyMed of a "major refurbishment" and states "we had therefore hoped for a reduction in odours by now".
Mr Batty said the company has been waiting for improvements since "approximately 2001".
Backed by the KeyMed board the letter, which called for an inquiry into the latest smells, was posted on Wednesday.
An Anglian Water Services spokesman said: "We will not comment until Keymed have received our reply."
Earlier this year the company threatened to review future investment in the area unless the odours were stopped.
