Motorists could soon be faced with handing over more cash to leave their vehicles in Maldon Council's car parks.
At a meeting of the council's community services committee last night, members agreed to a recommendation that parking charges in and around Maldon be raised by 10p.
Julia Peel, committee chairman, said: "We do have to raise charges but it must be remembered though that it has been three years since the last increase.
"At that time we also introduced the 30-minute free parking scheme, which has been highly successful and will remain in force," she added.
But councillors also gave the thumbs-up to a recommendation the price of parking at Promenade Park in Maldon should stay the same.
Although the members approved the two proposals, they still have to go before the finance committee and full council for final approval before coming into force.
