Thousands of people were today expected to crowd the streets of Colchester to welcome the Queen.
The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh were due to arrive in High Street at 12.20pm for a royal walkabout to the town hall.
Town mayor John Bouckley and his wife, mayoress Shelagh, are hosting a civic lunch in the Moot Hall with 100 guests.
High Street has been closed off for the occasion and barriers put up to control the flag-waving crowds, who started arriving early this morning to get a prime viewing spot.
