Windsor Eagles' push for honours in division one of the Clacton and District League continued this week with a surprisingly easy 9-1 victory against Walton C.

Gary Young and Paul Adams were unbeaten, and it was only a Claude Snell win in the last match of the evening - 13-11 in the fifth against Jim Pallett - that spared Walton's blushes.

The result leapfrogs the Eagles into second place over St Johns, who could only draw their match with Brotherhood F.

Fred Button took two for the Saints but could not convert his pair into a treble, losing out 11-9 in the fifth to an unbeaten Iain Vine.

Martin Hogg, of Brotherhood B, came away with three individual wins over John Andres, Dave Bins and Alan Burgess of Brotherhood A, but the A side won the match 7-3.

It was all-square when Windsor Hawks met Walton D, with Mark Ratcliffe taking two good points for Windsor.

And, although Windsor Condors beat Brotherhood C 6-4, Daniel Smith had two fine wins for the losers, including an unexpected success over John Pattrick.

Walton B beat Windsor Kestrels 6-4 in a remarkable match with every player taking a point and seven of the matches going the distance.
