A mother and child had a lucky escape after a car went out of control and struck their house.
Mum-of-two Debbie Thirlwell spoke of the shocking incident which unfolded at 1.30pm yesterday in Old School Court, Hatfield Peverel.
Miss Thirlwell, 31, said she was upstairs sorting out a wardrobe and clearing out some clothes when she heard a loud bang and thought it was the units falling down in her bedroom. She had her two-year-old son Leisen with her at the time.
Miss Thirlwell went in to the bathroom and looked out of the window and saw people outside and the white Suzuki saloon car, which had gone into the corner of her house.
"Apparently, I was crying but I did not know I was crying, I was definitely in shock. I just felt gutted, absolutely mortified. This is the last thing you need before Christmas is having your house needing to be repaired," she said.
The 57-year-old woman, of Boreham, who was driving the Suzuki was unhurt but shaken and embarrassed by the incident.
