Colchester United need to start turning good performances into points.

U's boss Phil Parkinson

That is the message from U's boss Phil Parkinson, who is well aware that his team's recent run of fine showings at home without yielding any points is not good enough.

The U's dominated at Layer Road on Saturday against Hull City, but again went away the losers when two quick breakaway goals sealed a 2-1 smash-and-grab win for the Tigers.

Only substitute Gareth Williams' late goal could bring any cheer to the U's supporters.

"The results haven't been good enough," said Parkinson.

"I can't criticise the players after the match because they have worked hard and showed a lot of spirit. They displayed a lot of bravery to keep plugging at it when we were two goals down and we managed to get a goal back.

"It would be easy for me to stand in the dressing room afterwards and be critical, but at the moment the lads need lifting.

"Confidence at home is obviously low and I thought they came through a character test in the second half against Hull and kept getting the crosses in."
