The site of the former Great Bradfords farm will now be extended to create 34 residential units.
The decision was agreed by councillors at the Braintree area committee last night after being deferred from a previous meeting.
Councillors had asked for a traffic impact assessment to be carried out on the site that has access from Coggeshall Road near to Cressing Road.
It was decided that access might be moved away from the Cressing Road traffic light junction to avoid further traffic congestion.
