Bus services could be based back at Braintree's Victoria Street for the first time in 20 years.

A potential £1.5m redevelopment of the Braintree site was agreed at last night's meeting of the council's Braintree area committee.

The venture would see the creation of a new island layout of ten bus platforms with shelters, waiting facilities and better disabled access.

A feasibility study recommended a revamp of the site.

Funding for the project would be sought through the Essex Local Transport Plan. Now the proposal has been accepted a public consultation will go out to bus users for them to have their say.
