New plans have been unveiled for a £1.5 million village sports pavilion.

Hatfield Peverel Football Club have returned from the drawing board with designs aimed at overcoming the objections some villagers voiced to previous plans.

The plans have the unanimous backing of Hatfield Peverel Parish Council, and 700 residents have signed a petition supporting them.

The football club have 11 teams and about 150 playing members aged from four years to adult, including girls' teams, and have outgrown the existing playing fields in the village.

The football club hopes if planning permission is granted it will be able to attract funding for community sports projects from bodies like the Football Foundation and Sport England.
