A dad has told of his horror after his daughter was burnt by attackers who sprayed a can of deodorant in her face and set light to the fumes.

The 13-year-old girl was attacked in an alleyway which runs between Glebe Way and Rosemary Way, Jaywick.

Her father, who did not want to be named, said: "She saw two boys, aged between 16 and 20 and 6ft tall, all dressed in black clothing.

"She put her head down to walk past and as they came to cross each other they lit an aerosol can and ignited it. It blew up all in her face and she screamed and ran off," he said.

The girl suffered burnt eyebrows and burns to her forehead and lips. Some of her hair was singed.

"She was very lucky. If she hadn't shut them, they could have burnt her eyes," her father said. "They could have blinded her. They could have ruined her life for a stupid prank."

The family have put up a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the motiveless attack at 7pm on Monday.
